How often should the hand gun barrel be cleaned?
The hand gun barrel should be cleaned as often as needed or approximately every 500 shots.

Does Gamo have any barrel with a smooth bore?
No. All barrels made by Gamo are rifled.

What type of rifling design do Gamo barrels have?
Barrels are extruded with 12 grooves a dextrosum (right to left).

What type of steel is used in the barrels?
Barrels are made out of precision F-212 steel.

What could be wrong if I have chronographed the speed of my hand gun and it is not at the velocity it should be?
Different conditions will affect the chronographed speed of a handgun. The weight and shape of the pellet should be taken into consideration. A lighter pellet will increase the velocity. The above sea level altitude and temperature will also make a difference. Having all this in mind, it's normal for a variation of 5-10% depending on conditions.

Can GAMO hand guns be dry fired?
Yes. GAMO hand guns can be dry fired.

Will changes in ambient temperatures affect the performance of the CO2 cartridge in my handgun?
Yes. Please note that ambient changes will affect the performance of the CO2 cartridge in your handgun.

My GAMO hand gun is firing at low pressure. What could be causing this?
If your GAMO hand gun is firing at low pressure, it could be that the CO2 cartridge is insufficiently charged with gas, therefore unable to propel bb's or pellets out of the barrel. Please try using a new CO2 cartridge.

Can my GAMO hand gun's rear sight be adjusted for windage and elevation?
The GAMO Compact-Target pistol and the R-77 revolver series have a rear sight which is adjustable for windage and elevation.

How do I adjust the rear sight on a GAMO P-23, an Auto 45 or a PT-80 Pistol?
To adjust the rear sight, loosen the adjustment screw on the top of the rear sight. Please refer to the Manual. Once the sight has been adjusted, fix the sight into place by tightening the adjustment screw.

What does it mean that the Compact pistol has a rear sight with width adjustment?
The Compact pistol has a rear sight with a screw which adjusts the width of the rear sight windage blade. This helps the shooter improve accuracy while aligning the front sight.

How do I replace the rear sight on the Compact Pistol?
Turn clockwise to take it off. Gently press the sight upwards to remove.

How do I replace the rear sight on a P-23, or a PT-80 Pistol?
To replace the rear sight on the P-23 Pistol, using an Allen wrench, take the screw out from the center of the sight counter clockwise, then slide the sight out.

How do I replace the rear sight on the R-77 revolver series?
To replace the rear sight on the R-77 revolver series, using a screwdriver, lift the lock pin located on the left side of the rear sight. Using an Allen wrench, remove screw furthest from the sight, take the barrel out and slide the sight out.

How do I replace the rear sight on the Auto 45 Pistol?
To replace a rear sight on the Auto 45 Pistol, using a screwdriver, lift the lock pin located on the left side of the rear sight. Remove the screw on the right side of the sight counter clockwise and slide the sight out.

What is the 3 dot positioning sight on the PT-80 for?
The 3 dot positioning sight on the PT-80 are the dots located in the foresight (1) and in the rearsight(2). This enables the shooter to quickly align the sight.

Do I have to pass a cleaning rod through the bore of my GAMO hand gun before using it?
Yes. It is recommended that you pass a cleaning rod through the bore to make sure it is free of obstructions before loading or firing your handgun.

Should I always clean my hand gun before storing?
Yes. It is recommended to clean and lubricate the external metal parts to avoid corrosion.

Can I store my handgun loaded?
No. You should NEVER store any handgun loaded. Handguns are not toys. After use and before putting your handgun away, always make absolutely sure there are no pellets or bb's in the chamber. Handguns should be stored in such a manner to protect against unauthorized use by children.

Can I store my hand gun with a CO2 cartridge?
No. You should NEVER store any handgun with a CO2 cartridge. Handguns are not toys. After use and before putting your hand gun away, always make absolutely sure there are no pellets or bb's in the chamber. Handguns should be stored in such a manner to protect against unauthorized use by children.

What do I do if I need to remove an obstacle that has lodged inside the barrel of my handgun?
First, make sure the safety is on and the barrel is pointing in a safe direction. Then, refer to the manual.

What do I do if I get rust in the barrel?
With proper lubrication, rust in the barrel should not occur. Please refer to your local gunsmith for assistance. Also note that our warranty states that damage caused by abuse is not included.

Can I put lubricating oil in the barrel?
No. Never put any oil inside the barrel or the chamber. The resulting combustion could be dangerous and cause irreparable damage to your hand gun.

How often should the handgun be cleaned?
The barrel on your handgun should be cleaned as often as needed or approximately every 500 rounds.

What does the automatic cocking safety system mean?
When loading your pistol, the automatic safety system prevents the trigger from accidentally firing the handgun should the trigger be pulled or moved. This applies to certain models.

How do I release the safety catch from the Gamo handguns?
Each Gamo model has a different safety catch mechanism. Please refer to the individual models' manual.

Can you adjust the trigger pull on GAMO handguns?
No. You cannot adjust the trigger pull on GAMO handguns.

What kind of wood is used for the GAMO grips?
The wood that is used for GAMO grips is a fine selected grade of European walnut.

What kind of rubber is used for the R-77 revolver grips?
The rubber that is used for the R-77 revolver grips is soft rubber Santoprene.

Can you use any type of bb's in the Gamo handgun?
.177 cal. steel or lead bb's may be used.

How many pellets can the P-23 handgun hold in the magazine?
Only one pellet may be used for single shot pellet firing in the P-23 handgun. Pellets are not inserted into the magazine, but individually inserted directly into the barrel.

How many shots can you get from one CO2 cartridge?
Approximately 60 to 80 shots may be expected from one CO2 cartridge.

Can you shoot bb's from the GAMO R-77 handgun?
No. The R-77 handgun is designed to only shoot pellets.

What is the accuracy for the GAMO handguns?
Please refer to the specifications on each model in this CD ROM.

Can you use other brands of pellets in Gamo handguns?
Yes. Other brands of pellets can be used in the GAMO hand guns, but we recommend GAMO pellets for best performance.

Can pellets be placed in the barrel of my GAMO handgun in any direction?
No. The pellets should be placed in your GAMO handgun with the skirt towards the butt of the gun.

Can I use a pellet of a different caliber in my handgun?
No. NEVER use a pellet of a different caliber as the caliber of your handgun. Always use the caliber stamped on your handgun.

Can I reuse a pellet/bb that was lodged in my handgun?
No. NEVER use any pellet that was lodged in your handgun. All pellets were designed to be used only once.

How do I make sure that my handgun is completely empty?
To make sure your hand gun is completely empty, use a cleaning rod to ensure no pellets are lodged in the barrel.

In what caliber are the Gamo pellets available?
Gamo pellets are available in .177 caliber and .22 caliber. Please refer to the pellet chart. However, Gamo handguns are produced in .177 cal. only at this time.

How many bb's can the P-23 handgun hold in the magazine?
You may load up to 12 bb's in the P-23's magazine.

Which GAMO hand gun use both bb's and pellets?
The GAMO handguns that use both bb's and pellets are the P-23 and the Auto 45.

What is the visible range of the laser sight?
The visible range of the laser sight is approximately 100 yards, indoors, and approximately 300 yards, outdoors at night.

What type and amount of batteries are used in the P-23 laser sight?
The P-23 laser sight requires three LR44 lithium batteries.

Which GAMO handguns come with laser sights as an option?
Some of the GAMO handguns that may come with laser sights are the P-23, R-77 and PT-80.

What is not covered under the GAMO warranty?

How do I get an obstruction out of my GAMO P-23 or Auto 45 pistol magazine?
Make sure that the safety is "on" and the CO2 cartridge has been removed prior to cleaning an obstruction. Slide the red lever of the magazine feeder pin back until it catches in the slot. If possible, shake the obstruction free of the magazine. If this does not clear the magazine, insert a large needle or similar object in the longitudinal groove to push the obstruction out. Refer to the manual.

How do I get an obstruction out of my GAMO handgun barrel?
Make sure that the safety is "on" and the CO2 cartridge has been removed prior to cleaning an obstruction. Open the barrel down and insert a cleaning rod of the appropriate caliber for your handgun into the opening of the barrel. Push the rod through the barrel with the brush attachment of the cleaning rod to remove any lead particles that may be adhered to the rifling. Refer to the manual.

Can I remove the CO2 cylinder if it is not completely empty?
No. Do not remove the CO2 cylinder until it is completely empty. Failure to observe this recommendation can result in a dangerous escape of residual gas.

Do I have to pass a cleaning rod through the bore of my GAMO handgun before using it?
Yes. It is recommended that you pass a cleaning rod through the bore to make sure it is free of obstructions before loading or firing your handgun.
